May 1968 Posters - Unknown 1968 objecting to conservative government, unemployment/poverty, disregard for arts
Tory protests of recent years in UK. DIY social design, protest march style

Anti-Apartheid poster- Unknown 1980s accessibility to resources, racial issue before Nelson Mandela

Attica Brigade Anti-War March Poster- Unknown, 1971

Black Panthers posters- Emory Douglas 1970, aggressively toned and styled black pride movement equal rights

Contribution to Ficcones Typografika -Erik Brandt 2013. Ethically orientated and visual approach is protest style

Grafika Fidalga Brazil - humble collective of friends printing in Brazil using sustainable papers for a social organisation with a lot of hard work and dedication to their work and respect for the 20s machine they use. Woodblock letterpress is used to create a loud, distinct strength in their language.

Social change posters are expressive, quick, DIY accessible processes such as lino, stencil, screenprints, handwrendered, letterpress. Quick but strong and socially spirited. Determination resonates within DIY method protest design. Even recently I have seen students walking to trump protests with pieces of cardboard and cloth painted or with the words wrote in felt tips and sharpies very large.
Similar colours, stenciled, bold typefaces used as they are cheap, impactful and the style has been used to decades and there is a cohesion and built up understanding of what that style means and it is embedded within our cultures.

Campaigns
more of a modern shift and take on our embedded ideas of protest/social design
