Taking a thought bubble aspect as it is his diary from his perspective, whilst the looking up character is a trend currently emphasising him as the main character and hasn't been done on one of the covers before.

Hand drawn typography makes it bold and exciting, and is varied to keep interesting and express different styles and are similar to doodles people do of lettering in diaries. Makes the title unique and is a strong use of typography as Penguin state they are looking for in the brief. A rip off the page is also included to add an appropriate framing for the composition and to resemble a ripped page out of a diary.

The orange used and the way the background is framed also resembles and resonates with classic penguin book covers, which makes this cover fitting for classic book stores and newer which was also wanted within the brief.

Varied text is suitable for target audience rather than using all font text.
